Introduction

Welcome to CARNIVORE, the open source VO Registry.

CARNIVORE is a fully-featured registry supporting:

• publishing via an XForms interface
• text searching and advanced querying using XQuery and ADQL
• harvesting via OAI
• Web Service interface
• web-based administration

It is based on the eXist open source native XML database. This means that CARNIVORE can hold any valid XML document.

It uses the open source Orbeon Presentation Server to provide server-side XForms processing.
